The San Luis Obispo Downtown Criterium Classic and Cycling Festival will be back in town on July 20, 2008 for another day of fast-paced cycling through the city streets.  Five-hundred racers and 3,000 spectators are expected to participate this year, building on the success of last year’s Criterium, which was the first after a six-year hiatus. The day-long event lets pros and amateurs alike dash along the downtown circuit and cut through historical Mission Plaza, cheered on by fans and locals lining the beautiful streets of San Luis Obispo. In addition to the day-long races, a downtown festival will feature activities including live music, the Thrive iNteractive Health and Wellness area, a “Gearing Up for School” Bike Town for Kids, and a free Bike Valet Parking Service.
